Taking a trip to the beach or the mountains may not be in your budget for this year’s Atlanta Spring Break. In case you’re staying Intown or hosting visitors who came to see you, I’ve created this list – Six Days of Atlanta Spring Break Staycation Ideas. I’ve got lists of places nearby to have fun and enjoy the food! I included six days of fun just in case you’re starting in the weekend or the Friday before. Oh and if you’re gluten-free, I’ve got you covered too. Enjoy the list and share!
Atlanta Spring Break Staycation Ideas
Day 1 – Downtown Atlanta
Instead of driving Downtown, I highly recommend using MARTA to get to these locations. Once you arrive your desired stop, like the CNN Center, I’d walk to these locations or hop on the Atlanta Trolley.
FUN: World of Coca-Cola (see my family’s experience taking the tour); Georgia Aquarium (I captured a video of A.J. enjoying the wildlife there); Children’s Museum of Atlanta; Centennial Olympic Park Playground is a great way to end your day Downtown. Let your children blow off some steam and get their wiggles out at the playground.
Through March 31, 2019 you can print a Friends and Family 4 Pack coupon to admit four people for $50: WOCC Friends & Family Four-Pack Offer Coupon
FOOD: The Varsity (61 North Avenue), The Westin Sundial Restaurant on the 71st floor, Johnny Rockets (280 Luckie Street across from Georgia Aquarium), Waffle House (135 Andrew Young International Blvd) or Flying Biscuit Cafe (10th Street Location)
Day 2 – Buckhead
Although it’s known for its high end, expensive stores – there’s still plenty of family-friendly fun in this section of North Atlanta.
FUN: Legoland Discovery Center inside Phipps Plaza with its new exhibits; AMC Movie Theatre at Phipps Plaza; Lenox Square Mall
FOOD: Johnny Rockets (Phipps Plaza); Lenox Mall Food Court and restaurants in front of the mall; Buckhead Pizza (3324 Peachtree Road).
Day 3 – Rainy Day Indoor Fun
We’d all love a rain-free Spring Break week, but just in case you have at least one day where showers force you indoors, here are some suggestions for play spaces.
FUN: HippoHopp Indoor Playground (North Decatur Area), Stars and Strikes (various locations like Stone Mountain and Sandy Springs), Tiny Towne Indoor Driving (Duluth); Sensations Therafun (1704 Chantilly Dr NE off of I-85)
FOOD: Most locations have their own cafés.
Day 4 – North Atlanta/Dekalb County
Since this is my neighborhood I love all of the options to play and run around. FREE PARKING is another benefit to getting a little further away from Intown Atlanta.
That moment, when your child takes over as host of your parenting talk show. Live from the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport playground.
Posted by Mommy Talk Show Hosted By TV Mom Joyce Brewer on Friday, February 19, 2016
FUN: Fernbank Science Museum (see the video I captured of A.J.’s fun with friends), Peachtree Dekalb Airport (watch planes take off and land from the playground in the video above; 2000 Airport Road.), Mason Mill Park (1340 Connell Drive)
FOOD: The Downwind Restaurant is steps away from the PDK Airport Park; Bring your lunch for an outdoor picnic; stop by the Toco Hill Shopping Center (2205 Lavista Road NE) to find local and national chain restaurants like Chipotle, La Parilla, Wendy’s and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt.

Day 5 – Grant Park Area
The Atlanta Beltine is one of the few places I haven’t explored thoroughly, so I plan to enjoy all 10 Terrific Ways to Explore The BeltLine by Red Tricycle. As long as the weather cooperates, you can spend all day visiting the nearby parks, trails. See the interactive map of how it maximizes green space in the heart of Atlanta.
FUN: Zoo Atlanta‘s Slimy Scaly Adventure is one of the newest animal exhibits (800 Cherokee Ave. SE); The Atlanta Beltline; Little Five Points for the vintage shops, funky spots and unique restaurants.
FOOD: Octane Coffee Shop (437 Memorial Drive A5; Uncle Maddios (1220 Caroline Street NE in the Edgewood Shopping Center; check out the Gluten-Free Restaurant Options in Atlanta.
Day 6 – Outdoor Attractions
These attractions have enough to keep your family busy for hours. They’re worth the ride and once you get there.
FUN: Stone Mountain Park (1000 Robert E Lee Drive, Stone Mountain) or Six Flags over Georgia (275 Riverside Drive, Austell)
FOOD: These attractions have their own food offerings. See the list of restaurants at Stone Mountain Park. At Six Flags you’re allowed to eat your own food in the parking lot, then you’re allowed re-admittance.

These are awesome staycation ideas for Atlanta. Love the list (and love that my girlie Aaronica’s site is mentioned as well. She’s awesome!)
This is great! There are often so many great things we can be doing at home to enjoy ourselves, our families and our towns. I am going to share these ideas with my daughter who is a student in Atlanta.
I have a series I’m doing about traveling in your own state. We think you have to travel out of the country to experience culture
I’d love a spring vacay in ATL. So much do, see and eat!
I really need to get out and enjoy more about this city. I haven’t gone to the Coca Cola Center in 2 years and I really love that place. I will put a plan together to start getting out more. Thanks for sharing where to eat.
This is awesome! You’ve made me homesick with this post. You guys hit up some of my favorite spots 🙂

I love Atlanta! I enjoyed the CNN tour so much. Next time I visit, I definitely want to visit the Aquarium and Coca Cola building.
This is such a great round up of places to explore in Atlanta. I would be all over this, if I lived there and I’m taking notes for when I make it there.
These are great ideas when visiting Atlanta. I love a staycation, they are budget friendly ways to explore, experience new things and have a little fun.
Great list, I’ve been to a few of these places when I visited Atlanta for Spring Break. I will note the others for our next trip.
These were great ideas. I have been to come and the aquarium and I had a ball at both.
You’ve complied a great list. I actually did Stone Mountain Spring Break with the kiddies and they had a ball!
Great list. We visited the Legoland discovery center the last time we visited ATL. The kids LOVED it. I’d love to visit the aquarium next time.
Thanks for including my post! We have done a lot during spring breaks or other school breaks. But we have yet to get to Legoland!!!
We just LOVE Fernbank. I think this year we might hit the beltline for a bike ride.
I honestly need a break, from all the work and stuff and a staycation would be the perfect way to really relax and get some inspiration on how to move forward.
