Our son attends a community preschool where parents volunteer hours to create projects, clean, paint and do upkeep at the school. His teachers are great about making projects at home and bringing them to school. Even as a half-day preschool, the number of hours and dedication his teachers take really adds up. I also applaud teachers who think outside the box like Stephen Ritz in Bronx, New York who makes his classroom look like a countryside scene thanks to the unconventional garden his students have grown. Ritz is one of thousands of teachers who are changing lives everyday. Watch his video in the Teachers Change Lives video series, then learn how you can support teachers like him with as little as $5.
Teachers Change Lives
Does this statistic surprise you? The average teacher spends “$13,000 out of pocket” to buy supplies and fund activities in their classroom. Considering that I know teachers who make about $30,000 a year, that’s a third of their salary!
