*Closed* Challenge: Make Your Mark on the World & $25 Amex Giveaway #MakeYourMarkES

As a Mother, I’m constantly evaluating myself, my parenting skills, my marriage and my business.

Some days it feels like I’m spinning my wheels and not making a mark on the world.

But when I slow down and take a good hard look at what I do (besides laundry and play dates) I do have power and I’m learning to embrace it.

How do you make your mark on the world? Sharing your story could help you win a $25 American Express gift card.

5 Ways I Make My Mark on the World

  1. I am a voice for mothers who are frustrated, tired, happy, overweight, tired, thin, energized and tired. Honestly, some days I don’t think anyone is listening as I write or do videos on my corner of the world. Then I get a tweet, comment or someone clicks Like and I know moms who can related to me are listening.
  2. We treat our son like an adult. Don’t get me wrong. He’s not even three years old yet. But he does know his birthday, his full name, our full names, his house number, and all of his food allergies. If God forbid we were ever separated from him he could tell the police a lot about himself.
  3. I admit my flaws openly. A two hour movie would only touch the iceberg on my flaw. That’s why I’ve created a motto for 2013 to keep me on track.
  4. I share what I know. As a journalist it was my job to answer questions and I still do the same thing as a “civilian.” Whether it’s helping someone with directions or replying to someone’s questions on Facebook, I do my best to be a resource.
  5. I donate what I don’t need. I’ve given away toys and clothes to the needy for several years now. Considering how I used to be able to give more monetarily when I was working full-time, I try to keep up my efforts by donating.

  9. And I make my mark on the world by conscientiously choosing sustainability. As much as possible i buy locally grown produce. I buy very little packaged food and have made significant strides in reducing the amount of garbage our family produces. This summer, I plan to start a new tradition- the family garden.
