My 4 year old is becoming an over the top Disney Junior fan. He’s told me how much he wants to meet Mickey Mouse, hang out with Pluto and visit Minnie’s Bowtique! For him, the Disney Junior shows he watches are real life. So I was excited to review a kids tablet pre-loaded with apps and books with his Disney friends. Here’s why you should consider making the Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 a back to school purchase. You’ll want to use the social sharing tools to pin, tweet and share this on Facebook with your friends!

Reading Tablet
The Books menu is one of the first places A.J. goes when he turns on the Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 so he can open “Disney Read & Play.” Watch this Instagram video so you can see the vivid video screen and hear the audio:
Gaming Apps
At first, I wasn’t sure how much gaming I wanted A.J. to do. But I found the games like Ninja Popcorn were great for his fine motor skills. But since Mommy has an issue with zombies, he’s not allowed to play Kid-N-Zombies on the arcade interface.
The Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 offers a variety of options for early learners to watch videos, play games, read age appropriate books and browse safely.
One quick tip: Look for the orange lock switch on the bottom of the tablet. It’s ideal if you want to limit a child’s tablet time, slide it to the left and it’s locked. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about this switch and it was accidentally locked. After a quick call to Polaroid’s customer service I found out about the switch (our instruction manual somehow got misplaced) and we were rocking and rolling in minutes.
Tablet Time
Use your own discretion and talk to your pediatrician, but I limit A.J.’s screen time with this and other devices. One convenient way is to use a timer on your phone or my favorite – the oven timer – so there’s a loud sound you can hear anywhere in the house that signals tablet time is over.
Overall, for the value I think the Polaroid Kids Tablet 2 offers a lot of value for $100 with a built-in case, no needs for cartridges or gaming equipment, super simple connection to wi-fi and dozens of safe learning options.
Comment below: How do you manage age appropriate technology with you kids? Do they use their own tablets and laptops?

This tablet looks great for AJ’s age group. I love that Polaroid has reinvented themselves with new tech but still serving old school goodies. 🙂
I have to say that my iPad quickly became my 5 year olds. I don’t think I hardly ever use it now. I think it would be a great option to pick up something like the Polaroid Kid tablet for it’s age appropriate content and safety functions. I’m guessing it is going to be more durable than my iPad which has taken a beating. I never allow our son to use the iPad unless myself or hubby is right near by to monitor activity and we do limit time spent on it. During the school week is a definite no go in our home. Thanks so much for sharing & maybe it is time to look into one for little man and reclaim mine! 🙂
My daughters has a similar tablet that they love. I only allow them to play children’s learning games on it and I watch them carefully since it does have wifi on it. There are times that I allow them to go on the internet on their kid tablet to go on the Disney.com and Nick.com website.
I never knew Polaroid had a kid tablet! This tablet looks really neat for kids!
That’s what he had at the Fashion Show last week! He was having a great time playing with the photo app, especially with the filters. Check & see if he took any pictures, because he was using it during the fashion show. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if there were some on the tablet!
I like that you can limit the screen time with just a switch. The price point is really good for a tablet. It’d be worth it to have to not have to share mine with Ayva!
My son is 5 {6 in a few weeks} and he has used an IPAD for the last few years. However, I like the idea of being able to monitor usage and NOT having to panic every time he pulls up a seemingly innocent website. Looks like someone might be getting one of these for his 6th birthday.
This looks like a fun game! I will recommend it to my cousin for her kids. Your son looks like he’s having a great time.
This seems perfect for him and his age group. My boys love gadgets and back in the day I would have picked a tablet like this over a leapfrog. This one seems like you can do so much more and it’s all controlled! You don’t have to worry about them accidentally seeing/downloading stuff that they are not supposed to do.
And for the price of $100 bucks- that’s totally super affordable~ Great review, thanks I will have to share this w/ my Mommy readers. They are always asking about the hottest tablets around Christmas time!
I let my daughters play on our iPad…SUPERVISED! They also only get to play educational games/apps. This looks like a very good tablet for my girls!!! 🙂
Oh this looks like something Pookah would love! I especially like the Disney read and play! Anyway to encourage reading is the way to go!
Pookah is obsessed with my iPad right now, and we definetky have rules: none when you first wake up and time is limited! We use a timer too!
We monitor what apps the kids download by NOT giving them our password! They have to ask for the password for each download and they have limited ‘nonsense’ apps in their folders. We TRY not to do technology before school or until after homework is finished. I love learning about kids technology from you Joyce!
This looks great for young kids. My kids have an iPad, and sometimes it’s hard to manage where they go, especially when they have wifi access.
I avoided letting Zoë use a tablet until we had to take a long road trip. I downloaded two games on my iPad for her. They helped so much with the long ride. She’s still young, but I love what this Polaroid Kids tablet offers not to mention the built in case. She may just get one for her birthday.
I’ve been looking for a good tablet for my son with ASD. I love that this is already in a durable case so I am not spending money to protect it. I also like that it has apps for kids to enjoy
As a Mom of 3 gamers I totally understand your hesitance to introduce AJ to gaming, many games can help kids develop problem solving skills as well as fine motor skills. This Polaroid tablet is a good price point for his age group, especially with the built in case. The sound quality seems good as well, a far cry from some of the electronics that my kids had.
Anything to get them reading vs playing is a win in my book, I love how Polaroid is reinventing the wheel though, this looks like something my Chunks would love (and not break).
Love this, anything to keep them reading vs just playing is a win in my book, I love that Polaroid is reinventing themselves like this. This looks like something my Chunks would love (and not break).
That’s a great price point. I would love to be able to stop “sharing” my iPad with Jackson. Also although $100 is no drop in the bucket I don’t think I’d be quite as uptight if/when it gets dropped. Dot heal come preloaded or was yours loaded so you could review it?
There are loads of apps already on the device. I haven’t added any more. But I like that I can expand it for him!
We purchased my son a tablet thinking the kids would share. Wrong. As my 4 year old is starting to build her reading skills I would love something like this for her especially with the Disney Jr. built in. Will definitely check this out.
It’s a cool idea. My two would have loved something like this when they were AJ’s age. Now they’re teens, so they use laptops instead. 🙂
That tablet looks pretty awesome. I recently made my first tablet purchase, and I think that this Polaroid Kids Tablet might be better than mine!
I love this tablet. My son has something similar. I am glad that polaroid is still around!
Hey, my kiddo wants to meet Mickey Mouse too! That tablet looks awesome, especially for the price, wow! I’m going to have to re-think my kiddos current tablet (which I’m always afraid of her breaking).
I love the features on this tablet, would make a great learning tablet for my kids, especially when traveling.
I like how this has a case built in and apps loaded and also a switch to lock it. I dont have young kids at home anymore, but if I did , this would be the way to go. The price is good if you wanted them to have a tablet, and I like how it look big and bright, I am with you screen time should be limited.
Sooo cute and reasonably priced. My nieces would love this. Setting a timer is a really good idea. I’m giving this idea to my nephew for his boys.
I like that this looks thick and durable, and big around the edges so easier for little hands to hold
I would love to buy onne for my god child because of its apps and design. Thanks.
This looks like a great tablet for younger children!
I think my daughter would love this!
I got my great-niece a similar tablet for the holidays. I didn”t know Polaroid made one. I like the safety features and parental controls.
What a cute kid, and he looks so happy with that tablet. Thanks for sharing!
I like the parental controls and that my kids won’t have to use my ipad!

i like the affordability of this tablet! and the thicker edges that they can hold!
I love how it has a case & is durable! With a 2 yr old they tend to accidentally drop things or throw them out of frustration without warning
This would be amazing for road trips or simply trips that have long rides . Would love to have one for learning games and reading.
I believe that kid’s screen time should be limited. Go play outside!
this sounds like a great product, would love to try it
I love the features on this tablet, this would be great for my granddaughter
