I’m not the greatest holiday party host. But I do my best to be a gracious guest. I offer to contribute wine or dessert to the meal when our family is invited somewhere. For instance last year my friend and guest writer, Alix McFee, invited us to Thanksgiving dinner at her home. So I made my mind-blowing apple cake for dessert.
This holiday season I recommend you take a Hickory Farms Party Planner to the host’s home this holiday season if you’re an invited guest. The host can set it out as an appetizer while dinner cooks or serve it after dinner with wine. Hickory Farms has been a staple in my parents home for as long as I can remember. My Daddy would grab a knife, then slice meat and cheese for a snack.

My favorite is our Christmas night party. We have never lived near family and spent most of our married life in the military. We invite all our friends, our kids friends neighbors, people from church to bring left over goodies, dress comfortable. We visit, play games, watch football or Christmas movies and eat.
We all get together Christmas day to exchange gifts, eat, watch movies, just spending the day together, but the things is…. we all are wearing out pajama’s …. We decided that we all just wanted to relax, and enjoy the day and there was really no need to get all dressed up, so we come in our jammies and have a fantastic, relaxing day
We’re a small family….my son and I live w/my parents and my sister and her family live out-of-state. We’re finally getting together this Christmas after a couple years of not being able to. Our favorite thing to do is send out Christmas cards. We don’t have huge dinners or anything……although, my dad loves the casino buffet nearby LOL 🙂
We go out and get our tree together and decorate and then we get each other orniments

Every Christmas morning, no kids can come downstairs until EVERYONE is awake the coffee is done! LOL And then they come down and open their stockings until the cinnamon buns are done baking! Then they can have the “big” gifts, they have learned good things come to those who wait…..even after waiting 365 days for Christmas to come again!

On the winter solstice, we trim the tree while having snacks & hot chocolate and listening to holiday music on the stereo. This year, we will also have a fire in the fireplace, provided our weather doesn’t take another weird turn toward warmth.
