[VIDEO] Gifts That Give Back: Heart of Haiti at @Macys

Gifts That Give Back Haiti

It’s the time of the year where it’s easy to get sucked into the frenzy to buy our friends and family things they honestly don’t need. That’s why I wanted to feature some “gifts that give back” like the Heart of Haiti collection available at Macy’s stores and Macys.com.  Lexi Severini from the Everywhere Agency in Atlanta sat down with me to chat about the Macy’s Heart of Haiti handmade decor, jewelry and housewards that are great holiday gifts or year round gifts. Here’s our video interview and a n up close look at the Fall 2014 collection:

Heart of Haiti

The trade, not aid initiative allows Haitian artisans to earn 50% of the retail price for the sale of their work. The money they earn is immediately reinvested back into the Haitian economy when it’s spent on school tuition, housing and food. Lexi, members of the Everywhere agency and influencers have visited the artisans in Haiti to tell their stories. They captured these images of their work and their homeland.

  8. I didnt know Macys did this as we dont have a Macys. We do have a shop here in town called The Worlds Window which uses a variety of sources that empowers communoties and artisans. An emphasis is placed on empowering women in particular. They have a Fair Trade agreement and I like that they are given a fair wage. They have some really unique and well made one of a kind items.
