Bug Lovers Head to Center for Puppetry Arts a Creepy Good Show

As a child, I loved to catch bugs and frogs in my backyard. I was the girl in the neighborhood that would touch all the icky bugs the rest of the girls would run from. So when we were invited to attend a bug-focused performance at the Center for Puppetry Arts, I jumped like a grasshopper at the opportunity. See what I did there? Calling all bug lovers! Keep reading for what you need to know before you head there to see The Adventures Mighty Bugs + enter to win a family four pack of tickets by February 14, 2017.

The day we visited the Center for Puppetry Arts, local college students were in the lobby with amazing bugs students got to touch and explore like millipedes and a hissing cockroach. Suddenly, my adventurous love-bugging self went elsewhere. See the video I shot of my husband and A.J. playing with the creepy bug.

This was our second visit to the Center for Puppetry Arts, so I knew how to get to the theater and find out seats. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I wasn’t as familiar with Jon Ludwig’s work. The story and performance were very entertaining. I don’t want to give anything away. But there’s love, jealousy and intrigue throughout the storyline.

Unlike the other puppetry arts performance we’d seen, The Adventures of Mighty Bug is a multimedia performance. Between the actors on the stage, shadow puppets, the projection screen and short animations, your family will be entertained.

At the end of the performance, the three costumed characters returned to the stage to explain how helmets made their buggy-appearance true to scale.

Did you know your ticket to a Center for Puppetry Arts includes a visit to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum and a Create-A-Puppet workshop?

For A.J. it was his first chance to see real-life black and white TV of the Muppets, created by the legendary Jim Henson.

Ravana and Lion King

I loved seeing  a glimpse at puppet history and puppets from around the world like 10 headed demon Ravana in a story with Indonesian, Cambodian and Thai roots and prototypes from The Lion King on Broadway.
