2014 Hot Topics

As the year comes to a close I thought I’d look back at the 2014 Hot Topics that got the most comments on the site and the Mommy Talk Show Facebook page where I get to chat with you every day.

First is the the most emotional story I’ve created since I started the show in 2010. This story got reshared, retweeted, garnered emails of support and even a phone call from a fellow blogger who was surprised by her own reactions to young Black men she sees. I opened up with a  very personal story of raising our Black son in the era of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

This Fall I got back in the saddle when it comes to audiences, makeup and hair. I was a friggin’ model at a Macy’s Fashion Show with the world’s first plus-sized supermodel, Emme. She knows my name, was cool as a cucumber and follows me on Twitter. Does it get any better than that? On the Mommy Talk Show Facebook page,  I shared how nervous I was even before I hit the runway and you laughed right along with me!
