Fitness Friday: Easy Protein Shake #Recipe & Week 6 Check-in

Week 6 Check-in

Thanks to what I’ve learned so far from my personal training session with Cafe Physique, the funky fun of Zumba class at Absolute Body Symmetry and supportive friends, my diet and exercise were on track this week. I hit the gym, went for a walk, planned my meals and generally felt better.

One of the biggest changes I made was adding a simple protein shake to my diet for three days this week. Below you’ll find a recipe and and update on my weight loss after six weeks of Fitness Friday.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

I asked my Facebook supporters for recipes for a healthy, quick shake. Suzanne Willett of Clutter Ninja shared this super, simple recipe with me. I headed to Kroger for the ingredients, broke out my Osterizer blender and here’s what happened:

Did I lose any weight?

Heck yeah I did!

Starting weight: 209.8

Today’s weight: 202.8 = 7 pound weight loss in 6 weeks!

You should be able to hear me doing the Happy Dance from your house.

  1. Love it! And thanks for the shout-out. The beauty of this recipe is that you can use whatever fruit you’d like, as a substitute for the banana. I love using strawberries or raspberries for a great flavor.

  2. Awesome work on the weight loss! As for smoothies, I like to get the Yoplait smoothie mixes in the freezer section. They give you the frozen fruit and yogurt pieces and you add milk. I like to also add a scoop of vanilla flavored whey protein powder.

  3. Hi Joyce … We’ve just connected on Twitter … Great blog. The shake sounds like a good one … I know the green can throw people sometimes LOL but I’m sure it tastes great. I like to play around with my shake ingredients too … My favorite shakes are the Body by Vi shakes (disclaimer: I do promote for them) … they don’t call them “the shake mix that tastes like cake mix” for nothing LOL *SmiLes*

  4. I love smoothie/shakes recipes, especially ones that I can add more vegetables for my picky toddler to drink. I would love to try to make a smoothie with raw carrots, since my daughter won’t eat them lately. Today, I made a fruit smoothie with apple, banana, orange, strawberries, peach, and skim milk. My daughter and I loved it. I don’t put protein in my smoothies, but I want to try adding flax seeds or something a little extra to make it more beneficial. I am constantly looking up new recipes for my toddler, so I would love see more smoothie recipes.

  5. I like to add spinach with frozen raspberries and light fruit juice for a smoothie.
