I just returned from my dream vacation in Los Angeles. I have a serious celebrity entertainment (gossip) addiction that involves watching shows like E! News, Chelsea Lately and TMZ every night.
It’s one of the reasons I picked Los Angeles to celebrate my 40th birthday and check out the sights in Hollywood. My first stop was a taping of Chelsea Lately at Universal Studios. Tickets are free by the way and you can request them live on the Chelsea Lately website. It was one mile from the “b and b” where I stayed in Studio City. The show was fun, but I was a little disappointed because irony slapped me in the face. Here’s why:
Stay tuned. All this week, I’ll share videos from my vacation including an exclusive interview with my favorite TMZ Tour guide on the best celebrity moms, visits to The Grove and CBS studios where major TV shows are taped, along with how I coped with mommy guilt while I was three times zones away in Los Angeles.
I’ve shared some of the photos on the Mommy Talk Show Instagram feed. You can also search for #FiguringOut40LA.
In case you’re wondering, this wasn’t a sponsored trip. I paid for my own travel, accomodations, transportation, meals and entertainment. You can always check Groupon Getaways for special offers to travel at more than 50% off.
But none of it would have been possible without my loving husband who took off from work and handled daddy-duty 24/7 for six days straight.
Comment below: If you could pick a place for a vacation by yourself, where would you go?
In case you missed it, I’m sharing my journey for turning 40 this year in a weekly #FiguringOut40 series.
Can’t wait to see more videos of the trip. Sounds like a blast! And your husband is so supportive to give you this break.
So sorry Chelsea wasn’t there! That would disappoint me, too – looking forward to seeing more videos of your trip!
This looks like so much fun! There’s nothing quite like a vacation, especially to somewhere as fun as LA!
Sounds like a blast! I love LA!
I am not sure where I would go. I pretty much want to go anywhere, all the time.
I think the trip idea was great and brave. I don’t want to wait until 40!! I have 3 kids. I want to do this tomorrow!! >>> Going to airtran.com! Awesome
Bernetta, when I turned 30. I went to Europe by myself and it was amazing.
It’s harder now that I stay at home to carve out the time. But I’m so glad I did!
LOVE that you took a ‘Me Trip’ for your birthday! Ooh, six days? I’d find a yoga and spa retreat with a private beach!
How fun.. and I live here! LOL. I may check out one of these tours… would be interesting to see my city from the “outside.”
Sounds lime so much fun!! Going to follow on Instagram!
If I had to choose a vacation to take by myself I would probably go to some island to relax!
Looks like you had a great time! What a fabulous way to celebrate 40.
What a bummer that Chelsea wasn’t there 🙁 Glad you still had fun though. LA sounds like a great place to celebrate 40! I may have to hit it up for my 40th in a few years!
I would love to go to a spa…. but I would love to go to a spa an day of the week. But for my 40th I think I would want my husband to be with me….at the spa!
Love LA!!! Glad to hear you are having fun 🙂
What a bummer that Chelsea wasn’t there! I”m so glad you were able to get away for a few days. If I could go anywhere by myself, I would hit up NYC or Chicago!
You had such a wonderful vacation. I am so very happy for you! It was also nice of you to share your travel and trip photos with all of us.
It stinks that she wasn’t there. You look great!! I have always wanted to go to California. Can’t wait to check put your pictures
Again Happy Birthday Love! You’re husband is awesome for taking time off of work to help you celebrate your 40th with a dream vacation!
My “alone” vacation I think will be to Savannah Ga. I fell in love with the place when I was reading books and I would love to go there.
Such a great way to treat yourself for your 40th and thank you for sharing with us!
