Avoid Missed Doses with the Medisafe App

This kindergarten school year started out as usual,  with A.J. catching a cold. In fact, he’s had a runny for weeks now. At one point, we needed a steroid prescription to alleviate his asthma symptoms. Breathing treatments with albuterol every four to six hours, even at school, gave him relief after less than a week.  A.J. is also on a daily maintenance mediation for his asthma. It can get complicated to keep track of everything.

A.J. Breathing Treatment

Unfortunately, on more than one occasion, my husband and I have both given him the same medication at dosing time. Thank goodness the double dose didn’t pose any dangers. But it could have easily been worse. There have also been days when each of us thought the other parent had already given the dose of mediation already, which means A.J. missed a dose.

I just learned that one of the most efficient ways to keep track of our family’s medications is with the most popular medical app, Medisafe.

Medisafe Reminder

Download Medisafe in the App store or visit Google Play for Android users.

Almost two million users rely on the Medisafe app to

  • Track medications and refills
  • Connect family members (eventually doctors will be connected too)
  • Get notifications of dosing times
  • Receive reminders for refills
  • Read personalized health news
  • Enjoy nearby discounts
  • Connect your vital signs like blood pressure and glucose

Since the app tracks personal medication information, I looked over the Medisafe’s privacy policy to ensure our safety.

Avoid Missed Doses

The Medisafe app was recently featured in the LA Times, “How to stick to a prescription drug regimen” and highlighted the importance then regimen to our country’s overall health expenses. The article highlighted epilepsy patients and others who need consistent doses of medication to suppress their symptoms. It pointed out – “Some experts estimate it may cost the U.S. as much as $290 billion in excess healthcare expenses when people get sick because they don’t adhere to their doctors’ instructions.”

Talk back to me in the comments: How will your family use the Medisafe app? Does your loved one have a medical condition that requires daily doses of medication? What’s the worst that can happen if they miss a dose?
