We Loved UniverSoul Circus Atlanta #BestCircusEver

On the way to the UniverSoul Circus in Atlanta this month, someone rear-ended our car. Thankfully, we’re all OK and the damage was minor. But we were all shook up for a few minutes. A.J. couldn’t stop talking about what happened until we arrived at Turner Field for the Saturday afternoon show. If you’ve never been to the UniverSoul Circus Atlanta performances, I’ll explain what you need to know before you get there,  during the show along with performance dates.

UniverSoul Circus Atlanta

This circus is like no other on this Earth. From the amazing performers from around the world to the hip hop music played throughout the show. As an audience member you’ll spend a limited amount of time in your seat because you’ll dance so much. Don’t be shocked if the ringmaster grabs you out of your seat to join in the show’s dance battles.

UniverSoul is a highly interactive combination of circus arts, theater, and music that spans genres including Pop, Classic R&B, Latin, Hip Hop, Jazz and Gospel. It embraces and celebrates the unique and familiar aspects of pop culture globally by bringing them center stage with a cast of international performers. UniverSoul Circus is rated as one of the top two circuses along with Cirque du Soleil. UniverSoul’s fresh approach to family-friendly live entertainment has garnered it a coveted spot as one of Ticketmaster’s top ten most requested family events, along with other shows including Sesame Street Live, Disney on Ice, and Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The circus was founded 24 years ago in Atlanta by concert and theatre promoter, Cedric Walker.

In my opinion the three most captivating performances of the show were the: Bone Breakers, the Biker Team and the Caribbean Dancers.

Bone Breakers

For days after the show, we couldn’t stop talking about the UniverSoul Circus Bone Breakers. Even the family behind me was amazed by their contortionist skills. The mom even called them “The Pretzels” because they twisted so easily. You will be blown away by the way their arms and legs bend. For us, these moves would be painful and send us to the E.R. For the Bone Breakers, it’s a breeze. The young men range in age from 19-21 and they’re from Guinea in Western Africa. I grabbed this photo from the UniverSoul Circus Facebook page so you could get a better look than anything I could have captured with my iPhone camera.

Mighty Motor Cycle Madness Biker Team

My eyes were ringing for awhile after the Biker Team guys from Chicago flew through the air at the UniverSoul Circus. As a Mom, I couldn’t imagine allowing A.J. to ever do what these young men did. They flipped, jumped and somersaulted on high speed motorbikes.

Caribbean Dancers

These dancers opened the amazing UniverSoul Circus Atlanta show. I loved the variety, the costumes and the daring things they did with fire. It made me yearn for a trip to Trinidad and Tobago, their homeland.

Know Before You Go

Keep in mind, there’s a brief intermission during the show which gives you time to get refreshments and use the restroom. Bring cash for parking so it’s easier to get in and out. Carpool if you can to save money!

There’s bleacher style seating that gets a little cramped. The little girl behind me squirmed a bit and bumped into me a few times. But as a Mom, I could sympathize

  1. This show sounds amazing! I did a giveaway, but I’m going to experience it with my God daughter next weekend! Thanks for sharing

  2. Sounds like you and your family really enjoyed the circus. Glad the accident was not serious!

  3. Looks like a great show, and I know your son loved it! I’ve been a couple of times, it’s always fun to watch!

  4. This sounds like too much fun! I hope they come to our city so I can take my 7 year old. The one year old…well, he needs to learn how to sit still first, lol.

My favorite part of the circus is when they pick the people from the audience and they end up putting on an amazing show too. It’s so hilarious. My kids love the experience too.

  6. Looks like you guys had so much fun! We’ve always wanted to go, but Can’t get tickets this year. Hopefully next year!

  7. I am hoping that Zoe gets over her fear of loud places soon because this is absolutely one of my favorite circuses and I want her to experience it. Looks like you all had a great time.

    • I hope she grows out of it. A.J. had a problem with loud noises and the blow hand dryers in public bathrooms – for awhile. Then he got past it around 4-5 years old.

  8. I haven’t been to the circus in a long time, LOL! So glad that you all had fun!

  9. I can’t even remember the last time I have stepped foot into a circus. I always hear about universoul. Glad you had fun. It looks really cool.
