5 Questions I Wanted Oprah to Ask Whitney Houston’s Family in the OWNTV Interview

The OWN Interview with the Houston Family

I don’t mean any disrespect to Oprah, but I had some burning questions I hoped she would ask Whitney Houston’s family during the OWN interview that just didn’t get answered. Granted, there were probably pre-interview guidelines that Oprah agreed NOT to ask certain questions since they are still grieving. But as a viewer, Whitney Fan and mom who’s concerned about Bobbi Kristina Brown, here are 5 Questions I Wanted Oprah to Ask Whitney Houston’s Family in the OWN TV Interview:

Were your questions answered?

What did you want to hear from the Houston family?

What do you think of Bobbi Kristina pursuing a music career like her parents?

Comment below and tell me what you think.

  1. Sorry, Joyce. i don’t think she should have asked those questions. I believe Oprah was somewhat friendly with the Houston family. The poor child is grieving and should not have to answer any questions she doesn’t want to. if anything, I think Oprah offered to help Bobbi Kristina with her image by doing this. Gets the media off her back because she did “the interview” and lets her be just a grieving daughter.

  2. Being a mothermyself, I’m just concerned for the well being of Bobbi Kristina’s future. There is so much greed in this world and my question is who is so trust worthy enough to properly take care of her? Your own people can be the ones stabbing you in the back not to include the entertainment industry. I pray that someone is able to guide her, lead her and help her to be a succesful drug free young lady. She said that her mother speaks to her everyday, that is great to know, however; I’m sure her mom can rest better knowing that her child is properly taken care of and she properly taking care of herself. Many prayers goes out to her.

  3. Kimberly –
I agree with you. Bobbi Kristina needs to be protected.

  4. I like this post! I thought it was interesting that the marketing for this interview focused on Bobbi Christina but the bulk of the interview was with the sis-in-law… so the expectation was for it to be more in-depth with the daughter but it may have been too soon to delve that deep. I think Oprah was letting BC say what she wanted to get off her chest. I would have thought that BC would clear up some of the allegations – but she just left a general spin saying that no one really knew her mom’s good side – blah blah. That was interesting about that ‘chasing the younger guy’ comment huh?!?! All in all, the interview was okay but (and I respect Oprah) Oprah seemed to be rushing it at times and she cut them off a lot. I didn’t care for that. Maybe she did that on purpose? I don’t know … but it seemed a little ingenuine sometimes. When she interviewed Whitney, it was more relaxed – let the editors do their job to meet the time restraints 🙂

  5. From my point of view, Bobbi Kristina should be given choices to chart own destiny ~ Finish college, enjoy her teenage years with peers group just like any other ordinary kids ~ Be herself and not somebody else & it come naturally as she develope in her growing up ~ Parental guide is important ~ And should Bobbi Kristina choose to be in the music industry as her career, let her decide yeah! ~ She knows best! @ Lim Ai Yim , Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

  6. I found the title of your post so intriguing that, in the midst of a busy week, I bookmarked it so I could watch when I had some free time (took 6 days, but I finally found the time).

I think you raise some good questions, and no doubt, your thought on questions that were off the table must be correct–there was a lot left unsaid during the interview. I subsequently saw an interview with Dionne Warwick on some random entertainment news show where she said that she thought Whitney had died of a heart attack. Why would the family not want to address this issue on Oprah?

Just this morning I saw a news segment on Bobbi Kristina with a paparazzi shot of her going to/coming from Starbucks near her home. She has managed to be out of the public eye, maintaining a sense of privacy that allowed her to go to her neighborhood Starbucks in peace. I wonder if she’s on the track to become the next paparazzi target. I also wonder, given that she has said she wants to pursue a public career in entertainment, if she will go down that sad path of being chewed up and spit out by the fame machine.

In the grand scheme of things, I know that the problems of this family have little to do with me, but I think most of us can relate to watching someone close to us fight a demon they just can’t beat.

    Thanks for the great post!

    • Thanks Angela. I only had one person who disagreed with my questions citing that Bobbi Kristina should be protected and my point about her music career was out of line.
I tweeted it to TMZ & E! News too.
I’m sure someone will pick up these questions in a follow-up interview.
