A.J. & Grandma Shopping at Walmart

Family Shopping Trip to Walmart

Every time my Mother visits from New York, we do a lot of shopping for A.J. and things we need around the house. She’s quite a generous and I appreciate it. To help make her money stretch a little more, I decided to stop by Walmart.  A.J. needed some big boy underwear, pajamas and school snacks.

I usually don’t shop at Walmart because the closest store is 15 minutes away and A.J. doesn’t do well with long car trips + shopping around a store. But since I noticed the Chamblee Village location last week, I wanted to give it a try because I could get there locally without getting on the interstate. I hoped that with Grandma along for the trip he’d be entertained by us both.

Our Walmart Shopping Experience

We made it out of Walmart with exactly what I planned to buy and some cleaning supplies.

A.J. wanted to taste the Del Monte oranges as soon as we got back to the car.

Thankfully, the fruit cups fit into the cup holder so he could serve himself and watch videos on my iPhone. He got a little cranky in the store and wanted to get out of the shopping cart, so I let him watch ABC spelling videos on my phone.

Del Monte Fruit Cup Smoothie Recipe

My son is obsessed with smoothies because the characters on one of his favorite shows drink them all the time. But cow’s milk is out of the question because he’s allergic. So I decided to make him an orange smoothie with goat’s milk yogurt topped with his favorite cereal spelling his first initial.

Do your children drink smoothies? What flavors and ingredients do they like?

Ingredients:

4 cubes of ice

2 tablespoons of goat’s milk yogurt

1  cup of Del Monte mandarin oranges

handful of favorite cereal

Blend ice first, add oranges and yogurt. Pour back into Del Monte fruit cup for child to easily serve themselves. Top with favorite cereal in a cool design.
