Oprah Winfrey and her best friend, Gayle King, have been accused of being lesbians since they appear to be such close friends. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Oprah talks about her adoration for Gayle and the fact that they’re just friends, not lesbians. I got a chance to meet Oprah and Gayle in 2006 when they were in Mississippi for a dedication of the Boys & Girls Club in Oprah’s hometown. Gayle was very friendly and supportive about the fact that I nabbed a one-on-one interview with Oprah when they stopped by Burger King.
This is the time of year when we buy Christmas toys for our children. Here’s a reminder that you can’t always trust the “age suggestion” about which toys are appropriate because they can still pose a choking hazard.
In this CNN video, a mom describes how she helped her son when she realized he was choking on a toy she thought was safe. Her description is an alarming reminder that sometimes you won’t hear your child choking. So it’s important to keep an eye on them at all times. If you must be in another room, set up your baby video camera to watch them.
If I could change one thing about my pregnancy experience, I would have tried to meet more moms while I was pregnant and get a support group in place.
When I moved to Atlanta in May 2009, I was a newlywed in a new city. By July, we found out we were pregnant. I slept most of my first trimester and really didn’t get out and socialize. Since I wasn’t working, I also didn’t get the chance to meet many new people.
But if you’re in a new city or among the first of your friends to get pregnant, you and your little one need to find a supportive group of moms and babies.
Here are some really important links to meet moms wherever you are and here in Atlanta:

As a breastfeeding mom, I can understand why a mom who can’t produce breast milk would still want it for their child. However, I couldn’t imagine selling my breast milk to anyone or buying theirs. The internet has allowed moms to connect in amazing ways and they’re even buying breast milk from each other. It’s not shocking that the FDA is warning moms not to do this. Here’s a NBC’s Today Show report:
Instead of Morning Joe/cup of coffee, I thought why not have Morning Josephine where I can talk to moms early in the morning while my son, A.J., is taking a nap.
In this video, I talk about how I came up with the idea for MommyTalkShow.com:
